A little while ago we were sent to Kenya, to take photographs and film footage on behalf of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. This great organisation is run by Dame Daphne Sheldrick and her daughter Angela; two magnificent ladies. They take care of orphaned elephants from the whole of Kenya, and even from other countries, for more than 50 years. These orphans are mainly victims of poaching or elephant-human conflicts.

The orphans are raised and taken care of with unlimited love and dedication, and are eventually released back into the wild again as wild elephants. They get a second chance at a long and prosperous life in the wild. Some of the photographs show the orphans, their caretakers and the way they live.

Of course during our stay we encountered a lot of other animals in the wild, which look the same as the species we've met in South Africa, but are most of time, there are slight differences. We also saw some species that we had not seen before.

The landscapes and conditions were very different to South Africa. I must admit that eventhough I never wanted to go to Kenya before, this country and its inhabitants have managed to steal a piece of my heart as well. View our 3D photo gallery for Kenya (click on the photo below).
