Photos of Galliformes by Yvonne van der MeyThere are quite a few species that belong to this family, and most of them are quite easy to find. Taking good photographs of them is another story. For some reason these birds are often very skittisch in front of cameras, and disappear into the grass or bushes before you can capture their photo. They are extremely helpful when it comes to finding predators. They have
very good eyesight and strong voices, which make it clear to all in the
area that an enemy is around, whenever a predator is stalking. On several
occasions, we've noticed a leopard looking clearly disturbed by a Francolin
that was up in a tree sounding the alarm bells, and gave up hunting for
that moment. Great to see how animals of different kinds can cooperate
