Photographs of other African birds by Yvonne van der MeyIn Africa is where I really started to appreciate birds. The abundance, both in numbers and in species, and the breathtaking colours really made me "see" these animals. In my opinion it would take half a lifetime to get to know them all, but I noticed that every time we are there, we gain more knowledge and recognise more species at first glance. A real challenge. A lot of the birds you see in the Kruger Park are migrants, which you
become more aware off when you visit the Park in different seasons. We've
also begun to understand how birdlife follows natural circumstances. A
very dry season? You won't see a lot of insects and will miss quite a
few bird species too. It is a very interesting process to observe, once
you've gained that insight. Hope you will enjoy these photographs as much
