Photographs of Rodents by Yvonne van der MeyAs with the other mammals in Africa, there are a lot of different species of rodents, but most of them are nocturnal, so they're not easy to see and to photograph. However, the tree squirrel is diurnal and can be found regularly and is appreciated by people. Most of the time they are solitary, but we did see groups on several occasions in the far north of Kruger Park. You can observe them easily and it's fun to watch them scurrying about with their daily business. Another species that we have been very lucky to see in daylight, up close
and for a long time, was a young Scrub Hare. Without knowing it, we saved
the life of this adorable baby. They are mainly nocturnal so you don't
get many chances to take pictures of them like I did.
