When the conditions are right, there are at least two breathtaking moments in a day in Africa, sunrise and sunset. In The Netherlands, we are used to a very slow beginning and ending of a day, but in Africa it's sudden, as if somebody has switched a light on and off. To capture these moments, you have to know quite precisely when they will occur, and to make sure that you are in the right place to observe them.

I use to think that every sunrise and sunset in Africa would be beautiful, but now I know better. When there are no clouds, the skies don't reveal their spectaculair scenes. Nor when the clouds are too high. But when a storm is brewing, for instance, you just don't know where to look first.

I'd like to share some of my most precious moments in Africa with you.
