Photos of Dutch birds by Yvonne van der Mey

With about 240 different species found, one can say that the Netherlands is real "bird-country". However, the increasing human activities are a threat to many species and there are a lot of species on the red list because their numbers have dramatically decreased. But for other species, like the Stork, conservation and protection has helped reverse this trend.

Over the past two years I have become more and more enthousiastic about birds, and that really happened in Africa, where you can see so many species in such large numbers, and most of them are pretty accesible. My interest in birds has also grown here. You'll often find me in a birdhide close to my home. Over the past two years, I've gathered some very nice photographs of birds found in The Netherlands that I would like to share with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
